GEORGIAN PEACEKEEPING TROOPS TO DEPLOY IN IRAQ

Georgian Defense Minister Gela Bezhuashvili announced on 5 April that 155 peacekeeping troops will be deployed to Iraq in the next few days. An additional 55 peacekeepers are also to be sent to Iraq for a six-month peacekeeping mission next month. Although 70 Georgian troops previously served as peacekeepers in Iraq from August 2003 to February 2004, this latest deployment was repeatedly delayed by an agreement between Georgian and U.Visit also
