Wages to double in Turkmenistan

In February 2003, Turkmenistan's wages will double, President Saparmurad Niyazov told the 12th session of Khalk Maslakhatly (People's Council) in the Eastern city of Turkmenabad, formerly Chardzhou, on Friday. The raise will be effective in all enterprises and organizations and in both state-run and private businesses. At the moment, the country's wages average a monthly 600,000 manats ($115 at the official exchange rate and $30 at the black market rate).Visit also
