European Council Commissioner on Human Rights Alvaro Gil-Robles considers the continuing abductions in Chechnya the republic\'s main humanitarian problem. On Friday, following his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Gil-Robles told journalists that he will always insist on putting an end to the disappearances of people in Chechnya and eliminating the atmosphere of impunity that is strengthened when abducted people are not found.
