Five new mosques are scheduled to be built in Moscow in the next few years, bringing the total in the capital to 11, Council of Muftis Chairman Ravil Gainitdin announced on 26 May. He noted that the city\'s central mosque is currently undergoing renovation to double its size, in a project that is being funded by Russia and several unspecified Islamic states.
