Acting Prosecutor-General Azimbek Beknazarov told RFE/RL\'s Kyrgyz Service on 2 May that the families of six demonstrators shot dead in Aksy Province in March 2002 will receive compensation. Noting that the Supreme Court had previously refused to hear the relatives\' grievances, Beknazarov said, \"[The court] recently reviewed their complaint and ruled to give one million soms ($24,400) to each of the six families whose relatives perished during these events.
