RUSSIA DEPORTS TAJIK MIGRANT WORKERS

Russia deported 83 Tajik migrant workers from Krasnodar Krai on 15 December for violating residency requirements and failing to have migration cards, RFE/RL\'s Tajik Service reported on 16 December. Nigina Muhammadjonova, a representative of the International Organization for Migration, told RFE/RL that deportations often involve rights violations because migrant workers are unaware of their rights. Mahmudullo Qurbonov, deputy head of the migration department in Tajikistan\'s Labor Ministry, said that Tajikistan has opened six centers in Russia to help Tajik migrant workers defend their rights.Visit also
