Tajikistan\'s Ministry of Foreign Affairs conveyed a note to the Russian Embassy in Dushanbe on 6 December expressing concern over a 5 December report on Russia\'s state-controlled Rossiya network, Tajik TV reported. Calling the report part of \"an intentional anti-Tajik campaign in the Russian media,\" the note disputed the television report\'s suggestion that the transfer of the Tajik-Afghan border to Tajik jurisdiction will harm drug interdiction efforts. Tajik television also reported on 6 December that Aleksandr Kondratev, spokesman for Russia\'s Federal Border Service in Tajikistan, stated that the Rossiya report misrepresented the state of cooperation between Russian and Tajik border guards.By empty (12/6/2004 issue of the CACI Analyst)
During talks in Sukhum on 4-5 December mediated by Russian Deputy Prosecutor-General Vladimir Kolesnikov, former Abkhaz Prime Minister Raul Khadjimba and Chernomorenenergo head Sergei Bagapsh discussed the latter\'s proposal that they should jointly participate in a new presidential ballot in which Bagapsh would seek the presidency with Khadjimba as vice president. Khadjimba said on 6 December that he has agreed to Bagapsh\'s proposal but that the date of 26 December proposed by Bagapsh for the new ballot is unacceptable.
