OSCE CALLS TAJIK PARLIAMENTARY ELECTIONS UNDEMOCRATIC

Election observers from the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) think that the February 27 parliamentary elections in Tajikistan failed to meet democratic standards, mission head Peter Eicher told a Monday press conference in Dushanbe. He said the state\'s control over the political campaign was too strong, too many governmental officials headed elections commissions, and the authorities interfered in the activities of the independent press.
