Sarpai Jaichibekov, a lawyer for a number of residents of Kyrgyzstan\'s Aksy region, told RFE/RL\'s Kyrgyz Service on 7 February that his clients\' cases will be heard by a UN committee. The case involves individuals who suffered during demonstrations in Aksy in March 2002, when police opened fire, killing six protestors. While some court proceedings took place in Kyrgyzstan, Jaichibekov\'s clients feel that those who stand behind the tragedy went unpunished, and that the world body is now their only hope of obtaining justice.
