Lavrov also called on all countries to \"end the practice of extending political asylum to terrorists and their accomplices and sponsors.\" He said the international community must do more to prevent terrorists from acquiring weapons of mass destruction. He added that the flow of narcotics from Afghanistan must be stopped, as it is a major source of terrorist funding. Finally, Lavrov said the war against terrorism must be based on the structures of the UN and called for a new Security Council resolution to bolster the UN\'s Counterterrorism Committee. \"The international community is passing through a complex period of the formation of a new system of international relations,\" Lavrov says. \"It is already clear that this will be a long process with an uncertain and unpredictable future.\" (Interfax)
