DIRECT FLIGHT NOW LINKS KAZAKH-AFGHAN CAPITALS

A civilian passenger aircraft landed at Almaty airport on 7 January, marking the start of a new direct air link between Kazakhstan and Afghanistan, Khabar TV reported. Carrying a group of more than 60 Afghan businessmen and government officials, the inaugural flight signified a new effort to expand bilateral trade and commerce. A weekly direct flight by an Afghan Boeing 737-800 will link the two capitals, with flights from Kabul serving Almaty from the Middle East and originating in Almaty to Europe and Asia.
