Protesters stormed the regional offices of the opposition Azerbaijan Popular Front Party in Lenkoran, Sumgait, and Nakhichevan on 10 August, shouting derogatory slogans. But thanks to the agreement reached on 9 August between leading AHCP activists and Interior Minister Ramil Usubov, police prevented a further attack on the AHCP headquarters in Baku. The protesters, whom the AHCP suspects have been mobilized by the Azerbaijani authorities, accuse the AHCP and its chairman, Ali Kerimli, of collusion with opposition youth activist Ruslan Bashirli, who was arrested on 3 August on charges of plotting to overthrow the Azerbaijani leadership with financial help from Armenian intelligence.
