Former Ajarian leader Aslan Abashidze turned 67 on Wednesday, and a group of his supporters marked the day by hanging posters marked with his picture and the slogan \"I will be back\" in Batumi. The posters were quickly torn down by the police. The Georgian authorities claim there are no people supporting Abashidze in Ajaria. Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili restored control over Ajaria in May 2004, and introduced direct presidential control.
