Ukraine ready to participate in Trans-Afghan project

The Ambassador of Ukraine in Pakistan Vladimir Ponomarenko stated during the briefing that Ukraine is ready to participate in TransAfghan project. According to him, Ukraine spires for construction of TransAfghsn pipeline which will supply Turkmen gas to Pakistan via Afghanistan. Diplomat informed that this and other issues of interaction between Kiev and Islamabad will be discussed during forthcoming in the first quarter of the next year official visit of the Ukrainian president Leonid Kuchma to Pakistan.

It is noteworthy that the first Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Vitaliy Gayduk who recently visited Ashkhabad not only discussed with the Turkmen side the terms of contract on gas delivery but also informed president Turkmensitan Saparmurat Niyazov about willingness of Ukrainian entrepreneurs to take part in construction of TransAfghan gas line as well as in the projects on laying electric power lines for exporting Turkmen power to the neighboring states, creation of necessary infrastructure for energy communications.
