AZERBAIJANI ISLAMIC PARTY ACTIVISTS ARRESTED IN ANTI-ISRAELI DEMONSTRATION

Several activists of the Islamic Democratic Party of Azerbaijan were arrested on August 7 by police during a demonstration held in front of the Israeli Embassy in Baku. Police detained Islamic Democratic Party leader Tahir Abbas and three party activists for staging an \"unsanctioned public gathering.\" The demonstration is the latest in a series of rallies protesting Israeli actions in Lebanon and follows similar pickets in front of the UN office and the embassies of both Israel and the United States in Baku.
